January 25, 2016...Training Material

Greetings on this January 25th, pleasant Monday morning.

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank everyone who assisted in preparation for the Sunday worship service. Thank you Savior Singers and Mr. Bud and Sue Warner for the messages in song...I appreciate your ministries in music. Don't forget the Financial Seminar on Sunday, January 31 at 4 PM...get the information that you need!

LEADERSHIP APOLOGETICS: Click this LINK  for our 53rd apologetics short video. I believe there is much to learn from these nationally recognized Christian teachers and philosophers. Today's lesson is "Leviticus Laws & Homosexuality"

TRAINING THE TEACHER: My purpose here is to provide long-term biblical training for those who are in church work but may not feel adequately trained in the Bible and Christianity teaching in general. I want all of you to take this training (whether you teach or not) because it will better equip you to teach or live as a disciple of Christ. All of the material for this training is  coming to you by Biblical Training.org. I am linking you to their site for each of the lessons. You will be exposed to some of the finest Bible teachers in the country. You will receive Bible Institute level training. Our session here is one of 18 lessons (one each week). This is Lesson 17 of 18, "Ruth, Song of Solomon, Ecclesiastes & Lamentations" from the module: Understanding the Old Testament with Dr. Paul House as teacher. Click this LINK for the video lesson. Visit their website and see that there are different levels for your involvement. By registering with them (free), you can have access to outlines, transcripts, etc. If you choose to do more than one lesson each week...go for it! Study at your pace!

ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP: Click this LINK  for lesson 7 of a 7 lesson series entitled: Essentials of  Islam.  Lesson 7 is: "Islam and Christianity". The host for this series is Dr. Timothy Tennent. The short series is designed to introduce you to the subject. Once this 7 lesson series is over, we will look at a second, but much more extensive study of Islam. I believe that you will profit greatly from these studies.

HERE'S MY QUESTION: "What should we do if we find that different Bible translations actually contradict?" Click on this LINK .

GRADUATE STUDIES: "The Purpose of the Church..." This is Session 4 of 10 under Ecclesiology and Eschatology (The study of the Church and future things). Click on this LINK . These are video lessons (they also have an audio version available on the same page). At the end of Dec. 2014, we started the Graduate Program over from the beginning. These lessons are at an advanced, graduate level of study. If you missed any lessons previously, get them this time around. You must put your thinking cap on for these studies.

COUNSELING HELP: The category is Grief and Loss. Click this LINK for the article:"Recovering from Grief and Loss." Send this link to someone that you think might need this information. This is helpful advice.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." Henry David Thoreau. Here is a humorous bonus by that great (and now deceased) baseball player and philosopher, Yogi Berra, to lighten your day: At the beginning of a new season, when asked what size cap (hat) he wanted, Yogi replied: "I don't know. I'm not in shape yet." That's my boy Yogi!

My desire for you this week is that you achieve your goals.
In His Majesty's service, Pastor Darrell.
