Greetings to you all on this warm summer day.

PERSONAL NOTE: A big thank you goes out to all who made yesterday's worship service possible. Special thanks to Bud Myers for his solo yesterday... all were blessed, Bud.

Please note that our next concert will be on August 14, 2011. We will feature Stronghold, who come to us from the Fowlerville area. Plan now to invite some friends and have them join you for this concert. I know that you will enjoy it and be blessed.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In First Peter 2 and verse one it says that we are to rid ourselves of "... slander of every kind." [NIV]. The particular Greek word that is used for slander has with it the idea of speaking out against someone in a manner to disparage or verbally run them down. It was used by Aristophanes concerning a slave who blabbed secrets. It is clear that it refers to running off at the mouth so as to cause harm. It is the will of God that we should not be involved in this type of activity.

BOOK RECOMMENDATION: Today I recommend to you the book, Encountering The Old Testament by B. Arnold and B. Beyer. This book is kind of a Christian survey of the Old Testament. You will find it user friendly, informative, good scholarship and helpful pictures. It also includes a CD ROM study aid. Check it out.
