Greetings on this April 4th, Monday morning. Is it Spring...really?
PERSONAL NOTE:
I want to thank everyone who assisted in preparation for the Sunday
worship service. Thank you Choir for the message in song. Thank you to all involved in preparing for communion. As a congregation we mourn the loss of Leroy Cockerton and Elizabeth Voorheis. Our prayers are with the families.
LEADERSHIP APOLOGETICS: Click this LINK for our 63rd apologetics short video. I believe there is much to
learn from these nationally recognized Christian teachers and
philosophers. Today's lesson is "Biased Gospels?"
TRAINING THE TEACHER: My purpose here is to provide long-term biblical training for those who are
in church work but may not feel adequately trained in the Bible and
Christianity teaching in general. I want all of you to take this
training (whether you teach or not) because it will better equip you to
teach or live as a disciple of Christ. All of the material for this
training is coming to you by Biblical Training.org. I am linking you to
their site for each of the lessons. You will be exposed to some of the
finest Bible teachers in the country. You will receive Bible Institute
level training. Our session here is one of 12 lessons (one each week). This is Lesson 9 of 12, "II Thessalonians and I Corinthians." from the module: Understanding the New Testament with Dr. Craig Blomberg as teacher. Click this LINK for the video lesson. Visit their website and see that there are
different levels for your involvement. By registering with them (free), you
can have access to outlines, transcripts, etc. If you choose to do more
than one lesson each week...go for it! Study at your
pace.
HOPE FOR PARENTS: Click this LINK for the article, "What Was My Kid Thinking?"
ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP: Click this LINK for lesson 10 of a 24 lesson series entitled: Introduction to Islam. Lesson 10 is: "Islam as a 'Missionary' Religion". The
host for this series is Dr. Timothy Tennent. This is a much more
extensive study of Islam than our previous essentials' study. I
believe that you will profit greatly from this study.
HERE'S MY QUESTION: "Godly men such as Jack Hyles claim that modern translations are corrupt and based upon inferior manuscripts. Are his arguments correct?" Click on this LINK . Difficult subject, but important...long answer but worth your time, even though you may not understand "textual criticism". When in doubt, ask the Pastor.
GRADUATE STUDIES: This is Session 4 of 10 under Introduction to Theology. Click on this LINK . This lesson is "Postmodern Epistemology". These are video lessons (they also have an audio version available on
the same page). In March 2016, we started the Graduate Program over from the
beginning again. These lessons are at an advanced, graduate level of study. If
you
missed any lessons previously, get them the next time around. You must put your thinking cap on for these studies. They are sometimes difficult, yet profitable.
COUNSELING HELP: The category is Marriage. Click this LINK for the article:"Spouse wants out of your marriage. What should you do?"
LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "If you want to conquer fear, don't sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy." Dale Carnegie. If it doesn't happen to be it should be! Here is a humorous bonus by that great (and now deceased) baseball player and philosopher, Yogi Berra,
to lighten your day. This is from one of Yogi's family members, keeping up the tradition. Carmen said: "I need to go shopping for clothes to shop in." Sounds like Yogi.
My desire for you this week is that you go ahead and conquer that fear!
In His Majesty's service, Pastor Darrell.
