February 9, 2016...Training Material

Greetings on this February 9th, a snowy Tuesday morning (yes, I know I'm a day late).

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank everyone who assisted in preparation for the Sunday worship service. Thank you Dee and Choir for the messages in song...I appreciate your ministry in music at FBC.  Let me give a special thanks to the WOL people for the special Valentine's Day dinner for parents and guests. It was great!

LEADERSHIP APOLOGETICS: Click this LINK for our 55th apologetics short video. I believe there is much to learn from these nationally recognized Christian teachers and philosophers. Today's lesson is "How to witness to a Jew."

TRAINING THE TEACHER: My purpose here is to provide long-term biblical training for those who are in church work but may not feel adequately trained in the Bible and Christianity teaching in general. I want all of you to take this training (whether you teach or not) because it will better equip you to teach or live as a disciple of Christ. All of the material for this training is  coming to you by Biblical Training.org. I am linking you to their site for each of the lessons. You will be exposed to some of the finest Bible teachers in the country. You will receive Bible Institute level training. Our session here is one of 18 lessons (one each week). This is Lesson 1 of 12, "Why and How Should You Study the New Testament?" from the module: Understanding the New Testament with Dr. Craig Blomberg  as teacher. Click this LINK for the video lesson. Visit their website and see that there are different levels for your involvement. By registering with them (free), you can have access to outlines, transcripts, etc. If you choose to do more than one lesson each week...go for it! Study at your pace!

HOPE FOR PARENTS: Click this LINK for the article, "The Lord is my Shepherd."

ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP: Click this LINK  for lesson 2 of a 24 lesson series entitled: Introduction to Islam.  Lesson 2 is: "Pre-Islamic Arabia". The host for this series is Dr. Timothy Tennent. This is a much more extensive study of Islam than our previous essentials' study. I believe that you will profit greatly from this study.

HERE'S MY QUESTION: "How were Matthew, Mark, Luke and John named...?" Click on this LINK .

GRADUATE STUDIES: "Ministries of the Church..." This is Session 6 of 10 under Ecclesiology and Eschatology (The study of the Church and future things). Click on this LINK . These are video lessons (they also have an audio version available on the same page). At the end of Dec. 2014, we started the Graduate Program over from the beginning. These lessons are at an advanced, graduate level of study. If you missed any lessons previously, get them this time around. You must put your thinking cap on for these studies.

COUNSELING HELP: The category is Grief and Loss. Click this LINK for the article:"Dealing with a miscarriage." Send this link to someone that you think might need this information...but use discretion. This is helpful advice.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.." William James. Here is a humorous bonus by that great (and now deceased) baseball player and philosopher, Yogi Berra, to lighten your day: One day, Yogi was in the backseat of a car on the way to play golf when all at once it started to rain. Yogi asked: "Where's that coming from?" Well, somebody has to ask. What would you have said to Yogi in response?

My desire for you this week is that you make a difference.
In His Majesty's service, Pastor Darrell.
