February 15, 2016...Training Material

Greetings on this February 15th, a light snowing Monday morning.

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank everyone who assisted in preparation for the Sunday worship service. Thank you Jennifer and the Junior Choir for the messages in song...I appreciate your ministry in music at First Baptist.
Thank you Brandon Eger for the special solo. I enjoyed it.

LEADERSHIP APOLOGETICS: Click this LINKfor our 56th apologetics short video. I believe there is much to learn from these nationally recognized Christian teachers and philosophers. Today's lesson is "Christian Worldview?"

TRAINING THE TEACHER: My purpose here is to provide long-term biblical training for those who are in church work but may not feel adequately trained in the Bible and Christianity teaching in general. I want all of you to take this training (whether you teach or not) because it will better equip you to teach or live as a disciple of Christ. All of the material for this training is  coming to you by Biblical Training.org. I am linking you to their site for each of the lessons. You will be exposed to some of the finest Bible teachers in the country. You will receive Bible Institute level training. Our session here is one of 12 lessons (one each week). This is Lesson 2 of 12, "Understanding the Background of the New Testament." from the module: Understanding the New Testament with Dr. Craig Blomberg  as teacher. Click this LINK for the video lesson. Visit their website and see that there are different levels for your involvement. By registering with them (free), you can have access to outlines, transcripts, etc. If you choose to do more than one lesson each week...go for it! Study at your pace.

HOPE FOR PARENTS: Click this LINK for the article, "First Things First."

ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP: Click this LINK  for lesson 3 of a 24 lesson series entitled: Introduction to Islam.  Lesson 3 is: "Early Life and Influences". The host for this series is Dr. Timothy Tennent. This is a much more extensive study of Islam than our previous essentials' study. I believe that you will profit greatly from this study.

HERE'S MY QUESTION: "If you say you believe in the inspiration of the original manuscripts, does this mean you do not believe this carries over to our English translations?" Click on this LINK . This is a difficult subject needing serious thought.

GRADUATE STUDIES: "Gifts of the Church..." This is Session 7 of 10 under Ecclesiology and Eschatology (The study of the Church and future things). Click on this LINK . These are video lessons (they also have an audio version available on the same page). At the end of Dec. 2014, we started the Graduate Program over from the beginning. These lessons are at an advanced, graduate level of study. If you missed any lessons previously, get them this time around. You must put your thinking cap on for these studies.

COUNSELING HELP: The category is Guilt and Shame. Click this LINK for the article:"4 Questions to Stop the Guilt-Trip." Send this link to someone that you think might need this information...but use discretion. This is helpful advice.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." Mark Twain. Here is a humorous bonus by that great (and now deceased) baseball player and philosopher, Yogi Berra, to lighten your day: One day, Yogi tells it, "We were going to have some of our blinds repaired, only I didn't know it. I was upstairs when my son Larry called out, "Dad, the guy is here for the venetian blinds." I told him: Look in my pants pocket and give him five bucks."  Now, think about it for a bit and you will get it. Way to go, Yogi!

My desire for you this week is that you get ahead.
In His Majesty's service, Pastor Darrell.
