February 22, 2016...Training Material

Greetings on this February 22nd, a non-snowy, I can see the grass Monday morning.

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank everyone who assisted in preparation for the Sunday worship service. Thank you Dee and the Sanctuary Choir for the message in song...your ministry in music is appreciated at First Baptist.

LEADERSHIP APOLOGETICS: Click this LINK for our 57th apologetics short video. I believe there is much to learn from these nationally recognized Christian teachers and philosophers. Today's lesson is "World Magazine?"

TRAINING THE TEACHER: My purpose here is to provide long-term biblical training for those who are in church work but may not feel adequately trained in the Bible and Christianity teaching in general. I want all of you to take this training (whether you teach or not) because it will better equip you to teach or live as a disciple of Christ. All of the material for this training is  coming to you by Biblical Training.org. I am linking you to their site for each of the lessons. You will be exposed to some of the finest Bible teachers in the country. You will receive Bible Institute level training. Our session here is one of 12 lessons (one each week). This is Lesson 3 of 12, "The Canon and the text of the New Testament." from the module: Understanding the New Testament with Dr. Craig Blomberg  as teacher. Click this LINK for the video lesson. Visit their website and see that there are different levels for your involvement. By registering with them (free), you can have access to outlines, transcripts, etc. If you choose to do more than one lesson each week...go for it! Study at your

pace.
HOPE FOR PARENTS: Click this LINK for the article, "The High Call of Parenting."

ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP: Click this LINK  for lesson 4 of a 24 lesson series entitled: Introduction to Islam.  Lesson 4 is: "Revelations, Hegira, Movement". The host for this series is Dr. Timothy Tennent. This is a much more extensive study of Islam than our previous essentials' study. I believe that you will profit greatly from this study.

HERE'S MY QUESTION: "Why are there disagreements on the interpretation of various passages of Scripture?" Click on this LINK . Very interesting answer.

GRADUATE STUDIES: "Marks of a False Church..." This is Session 8 of 10 under Ecclesiology and Eschatology (The study of the Church and future things). Click on this LINK . These are video lessons (they also have an audio version available on the same page). At the end of Dec. 2014, we started the Graduate Program over from the beginning. These lessons are at an advanced, graduate level of study. If you missed any lessons previously, get them this time around. You must put your thinking cap on for these studies.

COUNSELING HELP: The category is Guilt and Shame. Click this LINK for the article:"Overwhelmed with Guilt."

LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "Be Impeccable With Your Word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean...Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love." M. A. Ruiz. Here is a humorous bonus by that great (and now deceased) baseball player and philosopher, Yogi Berra, to lighten your day: One day in the dugout, Yogi tells it, someone said to him: "Yogi, you're ugly." Yogi then replied: "So? I don't hit with my face." You know, it's hard to hurt someone verbally when they won't let it happen!

My desire for you this week is that you fight the good fight.
In His Majesty's service, Pastor Darrell.

I was upstairs when my son Larry called out, "Dad, the guy is here for the venetian blinds." I told him: Look in my pants pocket and give him five bucks."  Now, think about it for a bit and you will get it. Way to go, Yogi!
