Greetings on this August 17th Monday morning. I trust that you had a wonderful Sunday...I did.
PERSONAL NOTE:
I want to thank everyone who assisted in preparation for the Sunday
worship service. Thank you Junior Choir for the special in song. Thank you Brandon Eger for
the message in song. Everyone was blessed. Thanks to everyone who was involved in "Back to the Bricks". We had a lot of help with our tent and all of the operations. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!! It was wonderful to celebrate in the baptisms of Sheri Helms and Julian Mai. Thanks Brandon for your assistance. What a great Sunday!
Here is a special note that on August the 23rd we will have The Royaheirs in concert here at FBC. It will take place at 4 pm. and we will receive a love offering for the group. Don't miss the concert! Come out and support these musical programs.
LEADERSHIP APOLOGETICS: Click this LINK for our 29th apologetics short video. I believe there is much to
learn for these nationally recognized Christian teachers and
philosophers. Today's lesson is "Intelligent Design".
TRAINING THE TEACHER: My intent here is to provide long-term biblical training for those who are
in church work but may not feel adequately trained in the Bible and
Christianity teaching in general. I want all of you to take this
training (whether you teach or not) because it will better equip you to
teach or live as a disciple of Christ. All of the material for this
training is coming to you by Biblical Training.org. I am linking you to
their site for each of the lessons. You will be exposed to some of the
finest Bible teachers in the country. You will receive Bible Institute
level training. Our session here is one of 7 lessons (one each week). This is Lesson 1, "Intro. to Hermeneutics...pt.1 of 2" from the module: Bible Study Methods with Dr. Mark Strauss as teacher. Click this LINK or the video lesson. Visit their website and see that there are
different levels for your involvement. By registering with them (free), you
can have access to outlines, transcripts, etc. If you choose to do more
than one lesson each week...go for it! Study at your pace!
HOPE FOR PARENTS: Click this LINK for the article, The Long Walk is Part of the Gift.
ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP: Click this LINK for the article, lesson 6 of 8 The Zealots. The host for this series is Dr. Allen Ross. The series is entitled:..."The Religious World of Jesus".
HERE'S MY QUESTION: What is the difference between a conviction and a preference? Click on this LINK .
GRADUATE STUDIES: Humanity and Sin..."Introduction and Why did God create man?" This is Session 1 of 10 under Humanity and Sin. Click on this LINK . These are video lessons (they also have an audio version available on
the same page). At
the end of Dec. 2014, we started the Graduate Program over from the
beginning. These lessons are at an advanced, graduate level of study. If
you
missed any lessons previously, get them this time around.
COUNSELING HELP: The category is Domestic Violence. Click this LINK for the article, Domestic Violence Resources. You may not need this, but have the link available so that you can share it with someone who does need it!
LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor." Vince Lombardi. Here is a humorous bonus by that great baseball player and philosopher, Yogi Berra,
to lighten your day: Talking at batting practice one day, Yogi said this to another player: "If you can't imitate him, don't copy him."
My desire for you this week is that you appreciate all that is accomplished in the name of Jesus.
In His Majesty's service, Pastor Darrell.
