May 2, 2011... Training Materials

Greetings to each of you on a cool, May 2nd day.

PERSONAL NOTE: Yesterday was the last day for our study in the Book of Acts. I thought that it was a good wrap up. It is my hope that you found the study added to your understanding of the founding of the First Century Church. I also want to thank everyone who was involved in some fashion of the worship service. We appreciate your service. The message in song by the choir was a great one! Good job choir (and Dee).

Please be aware that I will be on "Ask The Pastor" at 2 pm. Please remember me in prayer... that my answers would be right on the mark. Also remember me especially on Wednesday as I will be officiating the funeral of Helen Stegal at Swartz Funeral Home. Remember the family in your prayers in the days ahead.

Begin praying now for the summer VBS program... "Pandamania". It will be on June 20th through June 24th. Please pray for Bill and associates as they prepare for this very intense week!

BOOK RECOMMENDATION: I recommend to you the book, Evidence and Truth by Robert J. Morgan. It is part of the "Bible Essentials" collection of books by the Evangelical Training Association and published by Crossway Books. It is subtitled, "Foundations for Christan Truth". It covers such areas as Christ's resurrection, creation, prophecy, reliability of the Bile, and more. The book falls under the category of Apologetics. I believe that you will find it a helpful tool, both personally and in a class setting. It is an inexpensive education into apologetics.

HELPING CHILDREN: Please click on this LINK in order to read and download the article, ADD and ADHD. This subject has a lot of mystery and confusion surrounding it. You may find this article very helpful.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: If you turn in your Bible to Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 30, you will read, "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." [NIV]. There are a couple of things you need to understand right away, and they are that the context has to do with Christians abusing their relationship with other believers by lying, anger, stealing, and bad-mouthing one another. These sinful displays are then said to grieve, or cause sorrow to the Holy Spirit. We know from the Greek text that the activity that is being described was of an ongoing and continuous nature. The Word of God declares that they were to stop it! This was excellent advice to them and to us today.

ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING: Please click on this LINK in order to read and download the article, Do Not Steal . Please read this and note that you could use it as a lesson in a classroom setting.
