Greetings to you all on this Monday morning (even though I did this Sunday afternoon).
PERSONAL NOTE: First, let me thank Rich Brotemarkle for the very nice song during the Sunday am. service. Very nice ministry, Rich.
I want to thank Curtis Burkhardt and his crew for all of the food we shared at the Rally Day Luncheon. Thanks everyone!... job well done. I also want to thank Jessica for helping with the fellowship prayer.
Don't forget that I will be starting a new Bible study series on the first Wednesday in September. I invite all of you to join me for the study in the Book of Revelation. Bring your Bible... it will be our text.
The Church choir will resume practices on Wednesday, September 8 at 7:35 pm. in the sanctuary. If you want to be a part of it, see Rich.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: Take your Bible and turn to Matthew 6 and verse 5 where we see that the text says, " when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites...". God's will is that when we pray to Him, it is to be done in reverence and sincerity, not to just be sen and heard by other people. It isn't a show! It is done in sincerity to God, not for or to men. Guard against hypocrisy in this area... after all, it is God's will!

August 23, 2010... Training Materials
Greetings to each of you on this somewhat overcast morning in Grand Blanc. I trust that your day goes well.
PERSONAL NOTE: I thought that the service yesterday was very helpful to us as we start this new week. The message spoke to me as I hope that it spoke to you. I am always grateful to all of our people who make the day go right. Thank you, musicians and thank you, Brenda VonLinsowe for your special in song. We appreciate it.
Please remember me in prayer as I officiate at the funeral of Nadine Beckley today. Nadine was a longtime member here at First and she will be missed. Continue to remember the family in your prayers... especially Denver.
REMINDER: Next Sunday is our Church Rally Day. We want you to make sure that you attend... and make a decision to invite a guest or two. This should be a great day together. Right after the Sunday School hour, we will have a great pot-luck lunch together and at 4 pm. we will have HEAVEN'S CALL with us for a concert in the auditorium. We will receive a love offering for the group. Make plans now to attend!

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: If you turn in your Bible to First Peter, chapter five and verse eight, you will observe it say that it is God's will that we be self-controlled and alert. The purpose for the instruction is that Satan prowls around seeking to destroy lives. He is most effective when we are not paying attention. He looks for the openings that we give him. We must be on guard against the wiles of the Devil. This is sound advice!

August 16, 2010... Training Materials
Greetings on this very pleasant Monday morning.
PERSONAL NOTE: I felt that testerday's worship service was just what many people neede to hear and participate in. Several people mentioned that the message gave them just what they needed to hear. That is wonderful!
I want to thank Jan Foltz for the message in song that she gave us. Great message and execution. Thanks, Jan.
REMINDER: Plan now to attend and invite some friends and guests to the August 29, 2010 concert with HEAVEN'S CALL. This is a wonderful opportunity to exercise our evangelistic muscles and practice going forth and making disciples! Take advantage of the event. This is the last concert of the summer (boy, it has gone by fast).
Please read the half-page insert that was in the bulletin concerning Fall Outreach Sundays. I have designated four Sundays as special attendance booster days. I want everyone to get behind these "push" Sundays. Let's shoot for morning worship attendance figures of 120 for August 29; 130 for September 26; 140 for October 31; 150 for November 21. These are figures that are realistic and yet will challenge us. We as leaders must get behind this if we want to boost our attendance. Take up the challenge! We want the summer slump to be past history!

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: The will of God is clearly given in Hebrews chapter 13 and verse 5, where scipture says that we are to be content with what we have. If you read the context carefully, you will noice that the direct subject involved money... the love of money. We can be content because God will never leave us or forsake us. As a result, we can be confident in this life because we know Who we serve and where we are going!

August 9, 2010... Training Materials
Greetings on this hazy, and soon to be hot, Monday morning!
PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank Bobby Francis from Word of Life for coming and speaking yesterday, here at FBC. His challenge on discipleship was important to hear. He also met with our youth leaders for some training. I also want to thank Sue Warner for singing for us. Thanks, Sue... fine job.
Please remember to pray and work on our "Fall Outreach Sundays" which was on the yellow insert in the bulletin. Aug. 29... Sep. 26... Oct. 31... and Nov. 21 are the Sundays that we have designated as attendance booster Sundays! Make sure that you are a part of the excitement!
Plan now for Rally Sunday on August 29. There will be lots going on including the 4 pm. concert with "Heaven's Call". You won't want to miss this mixed musical group. A love offering will be received at the concert for the group. Plan now!
Remember me in prayer today as I will be on the panel of "Ask The Pastor". It is on channel 49 locally and channel 10 on cable. The time is 2 pm.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In Second Timothy 2 and verse 24, Paul speaks to the young minister about the need to be ready and able to teach. The text would seem to indicate that the teaching might take place under situations that were not so pleasant. Although the lesson is specifically designed for ministers... there might be a broad application to Bible teachers in general... be ready and able to teach. This is the will of God.

August 2, 2010... Training Materials
I bid you greetings on this second day of August, 2010. My question is, where has all of the summer gone? This summer for me is flying by quickly. I found myself yesterday, talking to kids about getting ready for school this fall. WOW!
PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank everyone who made yesterday's service what it was. I want to thank the ladies who prepared the communion items and the men who served communion to the Church family. Special musical thanks to Jan Foltz and Dee Wilson for the lovely duet that they blessed us with. Well done ladies.
NOTE: Plan now to invite some friends to attend the August 29 concert here at the Church at 4 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your faith with others through the medium of song. The whole purpose of holding these concerts is to give our people the tools to share their Church and faith with others. Please... take advantage of this "open door". You and your guests will be blessed.
EXTRA NOTE: Please note the new additions to the right under the Bonus Training Links (the top three).
REMEMBER: This coming Saturday is our scheduled CHURCH WORKDAY... starting at 8 am.

BONUS THEOLOGY ARTICLE: Please click on this LINK in order to read and download the article: "The Third Dispensation". This is part four of an eight article series.
BONUS BOOK RECOMMENDATION: This month I want to recommend the book: Talk Thru The Bible, by Bruce Wilkinson and Kenneth Boa (published by Thomas Nelson Publishing). It functions as a survey of the Bible and a handbook. One of the things that I found most helpful was all of the teaching outlines from each Book of the Bible. It contains helpful charts, diagrams, and maps. It includes the overview items that would be of interest to you. If you are a Sunday School teacher, once again, the outlines are really well done.
I have found this book to be a great tool in the ministry. I hope that you will too.
YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In the Book of Second Timothy, chapter 2 and verse 24, the statement is made that it is God's will that we should be gentle to all men... this means we should be kind to everyone, not quarrelsome. Our expression should be one of love... not one of combat. Our goal is that those around us see the truth and come to repentance. Make sure that you are not a stumbling block to the ones you come in contact with.
