November 29, 2011... Training Materials

Welcome to this blog today... one day late! I had a funeral yesterday morning which prevented me from getting the blog up and running.

PERSONAL NOTE: I wish to thank Mr. Bud and the Savior Singers for their message in song Sunday... good job kids! I am also grateful to Miller and Jane Baugh for lighting our first Advent candle of the season. Thanks goes out to Sue Warner for her message in song.

Our condolences goes out to Margaret Martin and family in the passing of her sister, Helen Shields.

A word of advice: Be sure to watch the church bulletins with an extra amount of care during the Christmas season... you won't want to miss out on events!

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In James 5 and verse 13, the writer asks a very general question: "Is any one of you in trouble?" WOW! What a very broad question. I think that it is fair to say that in any given week that question may apply to each of us. What is important is the answer to the question which is: "He should pray.". God wants us to know that when we find ourselves troubled, we do have a solution to the trouble and that is to take it to the Lord in prayer... and leave it there! If you give the trouble over to the Lord, watch and see Him take action. When He takes care of it is His business! The song says,"Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there". This is excellent advice.

November 21, 2011... Training Materials

Greetings to you on this Thanksgiving week. I trust that you will have a very nice Thanksgiving.

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank everyone who was involved in the worship service yesterday. Thanks choir , for the great message in song. Thanks goes out to everyone who prepared a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. I believe the final total was around 122 boxes. What a blessing to kids over seas! GOOD JOB, Church!

Thanks to everyone involved in the Harvest Dinner that we all shared in yesterday. It was a great time of fellowship. A special thanks to all of the kitchen help. Great job people!

HELPING KIDS: Please click on this LINK in order to view or download the article, Anger In Kids.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In James 1:19 it says, "...Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry," [NIV]. This verse requires very little commentary on my part. If all within the body of Christ would heed the truth of this statement, a great many problems within the Church would be eliminated. Anger causes many a person to fly off of the handle and cause damage which is then not corrected. The lesson here is: watch your mouth!

November 14, 2011... Training Materials

Greetings to you on this mid-November day.

PERSONAL NOTE: We want to thank all of you who are veterans for your service to us and our country. We owe a debt of gratitude which can never be repaid. We salute you!

I want to thank the choir and Jan Foltz for the music on Sunday morning. It was very good. Thank you, King's Kids for your special selection. I always enjoy hearing from the youngsters.

NOTE: Next Sunday the 20th is our Harvest Thanksgiving Dinner here at the Church. Make sure that you are here and make it a point to invite someone along. What a great opportunity to do so. Also, remember to fill your Operation Christmas Child box and bring it the 20th.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In Ephesians 5 and verse 33 it says, "... and the wife must respect her husband." [NIV]. This section follows the command to men that they are to love their wives. The word translated respect is also understood as "reverence". The entire idea is that the wife is to hold her husband in high regard, primarily because of his position in the family structure. If the wife shows disrespect to the husband she is teaching her children the same thing. Our job as Christians is to be obedient to the Lord in all things. This is the will of God.

November 7, 2011... Training Materials

Greetings on this November day.

PERSONAL NOTE: I wish to thank everyone who was involved in the worship service yesterday for making it a wonderful time. I also thank all of the ladies involved in the communion preparation... thank you! Choir... a wonderful song, well delivered! It was a worshipful Sunday morning.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In Ephesians 5:25 it says, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her." [NIV]. Men, this is a clear statement. Men, we are under obligation to look out for the benefit and welfare of our spouses. We are to love them... but it does not stop there. We are to love them as Christ loved the Church. I think we as men need to sit down and really think that one through. Beating your wife is not the love of Christ. Divorcing your wife is not the love of Christ. Speaking and berating her in front of others, is not loving your wife. The key phrase to remember here is, "... as Christ loved...". It takes work, so let's get at it!

BOOK RECOMMEND: I thought that I would take this section and do something different today. On occasion, some might ask where they could get a Bible rebound. Maybe you have a favorite Bible with lots of notes that you would hate to have to write all over again, but the Bible's binding is coming apart and you feel it's worth saving. Well, about a year ago, I was in that same position but where would I turn? After some research, I located ACE Bookbinding Co., 825 N. Classen Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73106. They are also located on the web at www.acebookbindery.com . It is not cheap to have a Bible rebound, but I found their work outstanding and well worth my time and money. Check it out if you need a rebinding service (I receive no payment for this endorsement).
