March 29, 2011... Training Materials

Greetings to you all... a day late and a dollar short! I just thought that I would let you know that some other items superseded doing the blog yesterday. PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank everyone who had a part in the worship service on Sunday. I thought that it was a great time of worship and praise. I want to thank the Savior Singers for sharing their music with us. They did a fine job as a group, plus, we were treated to a solo part by Emily Warner... nicely done, Emily. I also want to thank Jan Foltz for the solo that she shared with us... well done, Jan. Please remember to fill out your "Invitation" half-page that was in the bulletin. Let's all do our part to make Easter Sunday a great attendance day! Have you worked on your testimony sheet that we passed out Sunday? I hope that you have... and I hope that you tweak it until it is just right. That sheet is a great tool... after all, it is the best witnessing tool ever! YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In I Corinthians 10: 32 it says, "Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God -". Once again, I remind you that verses must be understood in context. The previous verses had to do with the believer's freedom... but personal freedom has responsibilities. Paul is reminding the believers in Corinth that they must do things that benefit others... whether they are Christians or not. We must be concerned for the welfare of those we come in contact with... that is the expression of love. This command is the will of God for you. March 21, 2011... Training Materials

Greetings to you all on this, the beginning of Spring! I'm so glad.

PERSONAL NOTES: I want to thank everyone who was involved in any way in yesterdays' worship service. It was apparent to me that the Lord was ministering to hearts. Thanks, choir, for the messages in song.

Please remember, if you have not turned in your Faith Promise Pledge card, please do so now. We need to revise the count to see what we have to work with this year in missions.

Today at 2 PM., I will be on the panel of Ask The Pastor in Saginaw on channel 49. If you get the chance, watch it or record it to view latter. Please remember to pray for me and the rest of the panel that we might have good biblical answers.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In First Timothy, chapter 4 and verse 13, it says, "Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, ...". The context of this passage is as a message to Timothy as a minister of the Gospel. You must remember that there were no personal Bibles back then, and as such, the people who wanted to hear God's word would need to go some place where the Scriptures would be read. Paul, in this passage, connects the reading of Scripture with the preaching and teaching of it.

The lesson here for all of us is that we do not neglect the word of God in our daily lives. As Americans, we are all very fortunate because we usually have more than one Bible each. We have no excuse to neglect God's word in our lives. We cannot know what God wants from us unless we hear Him speak to various issues. The Bible is the source of answers from God about life and all that we do. Go to the source when you want to know what God thinks about you and your life.

March 14, 2011... Training Materials

Greetings to you on a sunny March morning in Michigan.

PERSONAL NOTE: WOW!!! What a really fine Missions Conference we had at First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc. I trust that you took in all of the sessions and had an opportunity to brush shoulders with our missionary co-workers (and possibly some new to our budget). I want to thank the members of the Missions Committee for an outstanding effort. I also want to thank everyone who had a hand in it in any fashion at all... congratulations, you did good work.

I am grateful for the missionaries who came and shared with us their ministries so that we would have a better understanding of what we are doing as we support them. I also thank our church family for responding the way that we did to the Lord's work. Your giving to missions is a blessing to all.

Special note: I want to thank Robyn Mai for singing Sunday as the sole representative of the King's Kids. Robyn did a solo performance of a medley. Outstanding job, Robyn! I loved it.
Also, thanks are in order to Elizabeth Warner for an outstanding job, ministering to us with her clarinet. Thanks Elizabeth!

All in all, Sunday's worship service was a wonderful experience... if I do say so myself.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: Turn in your Bible to Ephesians chapter 5 and verse 20 to see God's will on the subject of thanks. It says: "always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." [NIV]. Now, I believe that everyone of us understands that we should be thankful to God... but the verse says to give thanks for everything. Now, that statement is going to take some serious thought. That statement may be had for some people to agree with, yet it is the will of God for each of us. In context, Paul is writing about being Spirit led rather than flesh led. Take time to read the whole chapter to get a feel for what the Apostle is saying... after all, this is the will of God for you.

March 7, 2011... Training Materials

Greetings on a very sunny Monday in Michigan.

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank everyone who assisted in some way during the Sunday service. I am always grateful for the participation.

I hope by now that you are appreciating the new Choral Call at the beginning of each service. It adds much to the overall atmosphere of our worship. Thanks choir for all that you do.

Thank you Nikki and Missions Committee for all of your work and preparation for the Missions Conference. I am looking forward to the Lord's guidance during this time. The Theme is: "Showers of Blessing!" Make sure that you don't miss the blessings!

I hope that you have already set aside thew dates of March 9 through the 13th for our Missions Conference. This will be a great time, a busy time, and a blessed time of learning how we can best support our missionaries in their work. Be aware now of our love offerings during each night of the conference. I hope that you have already been preparing for it... I have.

BOOK RECOMMENDATION: I am recommending a book used by The Evangelical Training Association for their training programs. It is Exploring the Basics of the Bible by R.L. Harris, Ph.D. This book explores "important questions that many of us wonder about: Who wrote the Bible? Was it by revelation? ... Why should I believe in an antiquated book?". This book will be a valuable resource on your book shelf. It is a small paperback book... not expensive.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: Turn in your Bible to Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 27 and it says: "and do not give the Devil a foothold." This is the word of the Lord and His will for us.
This statement is on purpose vague because if we begin listing all possibilities we would have a very long list. Also, the details would vary from person to person. The context of this verse has to do with putting off various sins that were being committed (starting at verse 25). If we find ourselves sinning, we open up a doorway for Satan to gain a foothold in our lives and thus limiting our testimony and usefulness for the Lord. Our goal should be to be Christ-like not Devil-like! This is the will of God for you. Take time to read the entire chapter to see the context.
