Greetings to all of you on this partly sunny day. Welcome to the last day of November, 2009.
PERSONAL NOTE: Our Sunday service yesterday was very uplifting, don't you think. Our congregational singing seemed to be up a notch! I want to take this space and thank "The McPherson Clan" for lighting our first Advent candle of 2009. This will continue for three more Sundays with the fifth candle being lit at the Christmas eve. service by Pastor and Jan. What a great time of focus. I also want to thank Sue Warner for bringing us the special music of the day. Nice job Sue!
I just wanted to let everyone know that , yes, I survived my very busy week! It just happened things were scheduled the way they were and it was great, busy, and now over...amen! Two weddings, two rehearsals, Thanksgiving, home tree set up, Wed. speaking, Sun. School sub., Sun. morn. message, TV appearance on "Ask the Pastor", a couple of hospital visits and a partridge in a pear tree... OK, I'm not asking for sympathy... just thought that you might want to know.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In First Peter chapter 4 and verse 12, the Word of God says that we should not be surprised at any fiery ordeal that tests you. Tests and trials will come... remember they did for Christ. If we go through trials we should be grateful to Christ that we suffer for his name. How we handle trials is the key.

Nov. 23... Training Materials
Good day to you all on this cloudy and cool Monday morning in Michigan.
PERSONAL NOTE: What a great Thanksgiving Sunday we had here at First Baptist!.
First, let me congratulate and thank all of you for your participation in the shoe box gift giving. Last year we had 127 boxes as a total at the end of our collection. We had 127 boxes by Saturday this year... and that did not count all the boxes brought in by our people Sunday morning. The good news is that we will exceed last years number nicely. Praise the Lord!
Second, I want to thank our musicians for making Sunday special. A special thanks to Jan Foltz for her solo and the choir for a nicely done number. GOOD JOB ALL!
Last, I want to thank everyone who had a hand in the Thanksgiving Dinner preparation that we shared in. It was marvelous! Great fellowship and good food... ahhhhhhh.
This week I will be on TV, Monday the 23rd at 2 pm. Pray for us as a panel that we will give good answers to serious questions. I also have two weddings this week end to officiate at. Busy... busy week. I hope that you will have a great Thanksgiving time with family and friends.
Some of our people will be leaving this week for warmer climates for a few months and we wish them well. Bob and Janis Johnson will be heading to Bradenton, Florida and Joyce Tennyson-Ream will be going to Floresville, Texas. Have a great winter friends... we will miss you!

All the believers benefit when each of us gets involved with the gifts and skills that God has blessed us with. This is God's will.

Nov. 16... Training Materials
Greetings to you all on this cloudy yet mild November day. We have had several days f unusually mild weather lately. It is welcomed.
PERSONAL NOTE: I had no doubt that yesterday, the Lord was working in our midst. The morning message was very clear and touched a number of lives... for that we praise the Lord.
I want to thank Cindy Mass and the Kings Kids for the special music that they shared with us. Thank You! We are always grateful when the children participate in the worship service. We look forward to their next visit.
I want to thank the Faith Fellowship class for the work done, Saturday night (11/14), on the Operation Christmas Child boxes. I was told that we finished off 44 boxes from just our Sunday School class. Last year our class did 30 something... we are ahead! YEAH!!!
Are you getting your personal shoebox ready to bring next Sunday? I hope so. Last year we had about 127 boxes total for the whole Church. Let's see if we can't break that total. Let us bless many more children through our faithfulness.
From this week until the first of January my schedule of activities gets very full. Remember to pray for me. Not only do I have the regular busy holiday events and activities, I have three weddings before December is over, and three appearances on ASK THE PASTOR. Hold on to your hats... the Christmas season is now here!

Nov. 9... Training Materials
Good day to all of you. I saw a glorious sunrise today.. orange with pinks and gold. It was truly amazing! What a way to start the day! I trust that you will also have a fine day.
PERSONAL NOTE: It was good to have the "new" keyboard on the platform with Jan Foltz playing along with Linda Hittle. Jan is allowing us to use her home keyboard (which was formerly used in an auditorium) in our worship services. It will add a fuller sound to all of our singing. Thanks Jan!
A big thanks to Mr. Bud and the Savior Singers for the special music yesterday. It was a great number... we were blessed. Thanks to Emily Warner for her solo section in the song. Good work kids ( and Mr. Bud).
It was also great to take a moment in the service to honor our men and women who have served in our armed forces. We learned from each of them which branch they were in, which theater they were in and when they served. Thank you warriors! We owe you much on this Veteran's Day.
Coming up: On Wednesday, missionary Katherine Niles will be with us to speak and update us on what the Niles family is doing at the present time. Be there at 6:15 pm. in order to share in this report. Be up-to-date on what is happening in their lives. It will help you know how to pray.
As some of you know, "Ask the Pastor" has been started up again on channel WAQP 49 (channel 10 on cable) in Saginaw. I have been asked to resume making regular appearances on the program. It is usually once a month. I have agreed to appear. I view this as a good opportunity to give a clear witness for Christ and to share a conservative, evangelical, biblical point of view on the topics asked about. Pray for me as I have occasion to be on the program. The broadcasts are sometimes beamed all over the world. My schedule for appearances so far is: Monday, Nov. 23 at 2 pm.; Dec. 7 and 21 (both Mondays) at 2 pm.

November 2... Training Materials
Greetings to you on this somewhat bright Monday morning. I can not believe how fast this year has gone by. When November comes we are actually entering the Christmas season! WOW!
PERSONAL NOTE: I want to thank everyone who participated in the morning worship service yesterday... I really feel it was a very uplifting and encouraging service. THANKS!
PS: I appreciated the choir number too, Dee. THANKS CHOIR!
MONTHLY AUDIO: This month's audio is part of the continuing Leadership Development Series. It is entitled: INTEGRITY, PT. 2. Please click on this LINK in order to listen to or download the audio.
THIS MONTH'S BOOK RECOMMENDATION: I would encourage you sometime to purchase any good, recent Strong's Concordance. It will help you in your general study and in your teaching. Most quality Bibles have a concordance in the back, but they are brief by necessity. Make sure that you choose one that coincides with your translation of the Bible. A concordance can be a treasure trove of information.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING FEATURED ARTICLE: Please click on this LINK in order to read and download this week's article entitled: "Caring For A Difficult Person".
BONUS THEOLOGY ARTICLE: Please click on this LINK in order to read or download this article: "Christians and Christmas Trees".
YOU CAN KNOW GOD'S WILL: In I Peter chapter 4 and verse 7 we are told the will of God for us concerning our day to day living. The Holy Spirit declares that we are to be clear minded and self-controlled in order to benefit our prayer lives. Remember, according to the text the end of all things is near. If that was true then... how much closer are we now?
LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "If you are not generous with a meager income, you will never be generous with abundance." Harold Nye

May YHWH richly bless you this week in your service to Him. This is my prayer for you.
