October 26... Training Materials

Greetings to you all on this last Monday of October! The fall colors are blazing and it has been raining and I have not been able to get any good "color" photos... oh well.

PERSONAL NOTE: Allow me to take this space and thank all of our workers and parents who made the costume party on Saturday such a great event. As far as I could tell, the kids all had a great time. Thank you Barb and Bill Swift and crew for all of the work in pulling the event together. I must confess, I wanted to throw a pie at Don but I resisted! Many hands made for a great event.

I felt that yesterdays' worship service was well received by our people. I had many comments about the message. Let me thank Elizabeth Warner for playing her clarinet during the offering. Elizabeth, you did an outstanding job. In the words of that philosopher of the 50s, Arthur Fonzarelli... your playing was "superbamundo!".

I trust after the Graham video concerning "Operation Christmas Child", that you are already gearing up for the shoe boxes that you are going to fill to be delivered to children all over the world for this Christmas. What a great event!!!

This last week I received a gift catalog from Samaritan's Purse (Franklin Graham's organization), and I was overwhelmed by all of the creative ideas that we have available to help people that we have never met. We have the opportunity to "give a cup of cold water" in Jesus' name. The catalog has about 47 ways that we can help people who desperately need our help.

How about this: Gift # 21 is a $9 gift to feed a hungry baby for a week!
How about this: Gift # 19 is a $4 gift to provide milk for a child for a week!
How about this: Gift # 20 is a $10 gift to provide a life-saving mosquito bed net!
How about this: Gift # 27 is a $60 emergency medicine pre-packaged kit to aid 50 people!

There are many more... but these are just examples of how we can have a great impact on others this Christmas. Please take the time and visit Samaritan's Purse online at: www.samaritanspurse.org ... you will be blessed with the ways you can help. I believe that this is an organization we can trust. I personally am going to partner with them this season.

YOU CAN KNOW GOD'S WILL: In I Peter 4 verse 1, The Apostle tells us through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to arm ourselves with the thought that Christ has suffered; therefore we can also live out the will of God even though we may suffer. Wow!... that is a life changing thought.

October 19... Training Materials

Good morning on this sunny October day. I always appreciate a sunny day (and I know that my wife Jan does).

PERSONAL NOTE: I very much enjoyed our Sunday morning worship service, featuring our special guest, Rev. Roy Schwarcz from Chosen People Ministries. I enjoyed his message and the time that we had afterward at Lunch to talk. I hope that in the future we will again have the opportunity to hear from Bro. Schwarcz on other topics from his Jewish background.

I also want to thank Sue Warner and King's Kids for the message in song that they brought. Good job Sue and kids!

All in all, it was a busy week for me at the church... regular work plus two outings and a Saturday meeting in the Detroit area for a Michigan Bap. annual gathering. Dale LePage was also there as a representative from the church. Ministry happened and business was taken care of.

SPECIAL NOTE OF INTEREST: Today (Monday), I will appear on "ASK THE PASTOR" on WAQP, channel 49 (cable channel 10) out of Saginaw, Mich. I will be on a panel with several other ministers. It will be shown live at 2 PM. The program will be streamed all over the world. Please pray for me that the answers that I give will be accurate and biblical. I usually enjoy my participation on these programs.

YOU CAN KNOW GOD'S WILL: If you will take your Bible and turn to I Peter 3: 16, you will find it recorded that it is God's will that we each keep our conscience clear. This will involve prayer, action and forgiveness. This is what God wills.

October 12... Training Materials

Welcome and greetings to all of you F.M.T. Blogites on this cool fall day in October. I trust that you will have a very profitable day.

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to take the time to thank everyone who made yesterday's worship experience what it was... especially our musicians and sound people. A special thanks to Mr. Bud and the Savior Singers for their message in song to us. Great job kids (and Mr. Bud)!

Remember that on Sunday, October 18, 2009 we will have as a special guest, Rev. Roy Schwarcz with us from Chosen People Ministries (a Jewish Messianic ministry). He will be presenting the "Messiah in Shavout, How the Feast of Pentecost Foreshadows the New Covenant and the Coming of the Messiah". We look forward to his ministry among us. This is a good opportunity to bring a guest with you to Church. Take advantage of it.

We have just begun a new Sunday morning message series on the Book of Daniel form the Old Testament. I believe that you will find this study to be helpful, challenging and applicable to us today. I know that you will find the prophetic themes of Daniel right of the history books and our news media. Jesus is going to come back to earth to rule and reign, and Daniel sets the stage for that. Make sure that you are here on Sundays to be challenged by God's Word. Know what is coming!

YOU CAN KNOW GOD'S WILL: In I Peter chapter 3 and verse 15, we see that the will of God is expressed by saying that each of us must always be prepared to make a defense of our hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. In theology circles this is called apologetics. It is necessary for every believer to learn why they believe what they believe. The purpose is to be able to share clearly from the Bible the what and why of God's provision of salvation and the ramifications of it. Be prepared!

October 5... Training Materials

Good morning on this very sunny fall Monday. I hope that you have a busy week of service.

PERSONAL NOTE: I thought that yesterday's service was very good. We began a new preaching series on the Book of Daniel which I know will be inspiring and challenging. Sunday was just the introduction to the series. Oct. 11 will be the first message from the text itself. I encourage you to be here for it and think about who you can invite. I know your friends will benefit from the study of God's Word.

It was great to hand out the baptism certificates to three individuals and to extend the right hand of fellowship to two new members. Congratulations to Emily Warner, James Burkhardt, and Janis Johnson. We are glad to have you on board. May God bless you on your christian journey.

I am always glad to share in the communion time each month. It is always good for us to focus on the tremendous sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf. Thanks to everyone who helped to prepare and those who helped serve the elements.

In closing this personal section, let me say thaks to the choir for the number that you sang Sunday. Welcome back from summer vacation. P.S.: Thank you Dee for taking on the role as choir director. Good work!

YOU CAN KNOW GOD'S WILL: If you will read I Peter 3: 15, you will notice that it is God's will that all believers are to reverence Christ as Lord. I believe that the point is that we need to understand that Jesus is not just a prophet, teacher or just a good man... he is God! We should thus reverence him as such.

BOOK RECOMMENDATION: I am not going to make a specific recommendation today, but I am going to make a general recommendation. I would encourage you if you are interested in good Bible commentaries on any of the New Testament books, consider any of Dr. John MacArthur's New Testament commentaries. I have found them to be excellent treatments of the Bible text. You may also find the Holman Commentaries on both the Old and New Testament to be helpful. Check them out!
