I bring you all greetings on this Monday morning in Grand Blanc. I trust that you will have a great day in your endeavors to live a life pleasing to the Lord. Wow!... the month of June is almost over.
PERSONAL NOTES: I thought that the morning worship service went very well yesterday (no apparent glitches). Several people mentioned the impact that the message from Colossians had upon them. For this we praise the Lord! I also noticed that several of our people took up the "homework" assignment that I gave last Sunday and looked up the titles and names of Jesus used in the book of Colossians.
I want to put the names and addresses of our state Senators in the blog today so that you will know where to send the letters that I hope you will write concerning a variety of issues that will come up in the near future in Washington. I believe that we need to be heard and listened to by our officials in Washington... so please see the names and addresses here:
Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid
522 Hart Senate Office Bldg
Washington, DC 20510
Mich. State Senator, Carl Levin
269 Russell Senate Office Bldg.
Washington, DC 20510
Mich. State Senator, Debbie Stabenow
133 Hart Senate Office Bldg.
Washington, DC 20510
I believe that our messages will probably be better received by postal mail rather than by email. We, the people, need to do a better job at informing our legislators. Please make sure that you are respectful yet firm. Do not rant or say things that might come back to bite you... but make sure you are brief and clear. Write your senators... and write them often! Tell them how you would like them to vote on issues and why. Make sure that you have your facts straight. Do your homework!

YOU CAN KNOW GOD'S WILL: This week's imperative is found in I Peter 2:16, where God says that we are to: "Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God." This is excellent advise. We have freedom in Christ but it should not be used as a license to sin! Our business should be to exercise our Christian faith as a servant of God. Remember who you are. He is creator... we are the creature. We serve Him... He does not serve us.

June 22... Training Materials
Greetings to you all on this sunny June 22, 2009 Monday morning. I trust that you had a wonderful Happy Father's Day Sunday worshipping the Lord.
PERSONAL NOTES: Our Church owes a big congratulations to Culley and Elizabeth Berry as they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary yesterday. 70 years is a long time! We salute you, Culley and Elizabeth... and wish you many more!
I want to thank Bud Myers for his special music yesterday and his hard work on the Father and Son banquet... good job Bud (my son-for-a-night)!
King's Kids and Savior Singers... thanks for the special VBS song Sunday morning. It was great!
We have just come off of a great week of VBS and I want to thank all of you who helped. It is an awesome job! Bill Swift and associates... you did a great job! I hope that all of the workers get the rest that they deserve this week. I don't have all of the statistics, but we averaged close to 100 kids for the week. We also ran between 53 and 60 workers for the week.

June 15... Training Materials
Greetings to you all on this sunny Monday morning in Grand Blanc, MI. Today is the first day of VBS here at First Baptist. It looks like it is going to be a busy week!
PERSONAL NOTE: I once again take the opportunity to congratulate all of the graduates who came up front yesterday and received a gift from the Church in recognition of their achievement. I thank the Youth Praise Team for your help in playing the music for the service... nice job! Thanks also to David Briggs (welcome and announcements), Bill Swift (VBS announcements) and Curtis Burkhardt (recognition of the graduates).
Yesterday was promotion Sunday and we watched as the children were promoted and moved to their new classes. We appreciate all of the work that our teachers and helpers do. Special thanks to everyone who helped prepare the promotion - graduate luncheon. It was great!
Yesterday I finished the Sunday morning series from the Book of Galatians. The response to the entire series was good. I trust that it met our spiritual needs. Our next series will be from the Book of Colossians. I believe that it will be an excellent series. Colossians focuses on the deity of Christ.
You will not want to miss this very valuable study.

Greetings to you all on this rainy Monday morning in Grand Blanc, Michigan. I hope that you had a wonderful Sunday of worship yesterday.
PERSONAL NOTE: Yesterday was a very busy day here at First Baptist Church. One of the things that made it very busy was the hosting of the Car Show at 2 PM. It was a well attended event which featured 48 registered show cars (including a few more who came late). I want to thank everyone who made this outreach effort possible, especially Terry and Sharon Garfield and associates. A lot of work by a lot of people made this outreach event possible. I thank all of the participants for sharing their beautiful cars with us. GREAT WORK PEOPLE!
