YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: If you will take your Bible and turn to I Corinthians 14: 20, you will see it stated that Paul desires that we all should stop thinking as children, but should rather be adults. Paul is accusing the Corinthians of infantile thinking... and at issue was speaking in tongues. Very interesting. We should all contemplate this passage for a while. Paul states the will of God. We must act upon it.

May 17, 2010... Training Materials

Greetings to you on this Monday morning in May... cool but partly sunny. I trust that your day will go well.

PERSONAL NOTE: Yesterday I started a new Sunday preaching series from the Book of Acts. We will see as we go through the book, the founding and the early days of the Church. I trust that you will find it interesting as well as instructive. This book helps define who we are.

THINGS TO BE AWARE OF: Coming up on the calendar shortly will be the Car Show (June 6, from 2 to 5 pm.) on the church property and then Vacation Bible School. I hope that you get involved in one way or another in these outreach tools. The Car Show offers an opportunity to reach people in the community through an avenue that is very disarming. We will distribute much information to those who attend.

The VBS program this year is entitled: "High Seas Expedition."... exploring the mighty love of God. The dates for this are June 21 through June 25, 2010. The times are 9 am. to noon. We are looking forward to a great time with the kids! See Barb or Bill if you can help.

Greetings to all of you on this cool spring day. I trust that you experienced a great Mother's Day yesterday. What a fine celebration. I know that I especially enjoyed yesterday as I had the opportunity to offer some gifts that I had created. That always feels good. I hope that all of you mothers reading this had a wonderful time all day long. We appreciate you.

I want to thank everyone who assisted in distributing token gifts to the Mothers yesterday. I also want to thank Sue Warner and the King's Kids for sharing their song with us. Good job! I also thank the men and women who prepared and delivered communion yesterday. THANKS!

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In the Book of Romans chapter 12 and verse 2, the will of God is revealed in the words, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." The command is double barreled... don't do that... do this. The will of God is that we are not to be controlled by ungodly influences, but rather by godly influences. The battlefield is the mind! Concentrate on being transformed (changed) for the better.

ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING: Read and download the article: "How can I Help a Friend Gain Victory over Pornography." at this LINK. Take the time to locate the study: "ABCs of Christian Growth". It is a very helpful study covering many areas of the Christian life.

May 4, 2010... Training Materials

Greetings to all of you on this first full week of May, 2010. I trust that we will all have a great week.

PERSONAL NOTE: As some of you are aware, Jan and I took some time off this last week and went to Florida to enjoy shopping (Jan), palm trees and the ocean. We took a trip to Florida for some vacation time. It was very enjoyable.

I hope that the Church enjoyed having Missionary Mark Alberts and Carriage Town Mission Director, Dallas Gatlin as guest speakers during my absence. It is good to be back at FBC.

SPECIAL NOTE: First, I saw from the bulletin that Elizabeth Warner played her clarinet this past Sunday. Thanks Elizabeth. Next, I received a thank you card from the Gopher Buddies and their associates. I thank you for your concern and love (it was signed by all of the "gophers" and accompanied by the appropriate smiley faced stickers).

From the inside flyleaf it says,"Archaeological discoveries can shed a flood of light on the biblical text, and this heavily illustrated resource offers readers the most up-to-date and comprehensive archaeological information related to the New Testament." I know that you will find it a great addition to your library.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: God's will for today is revealed in First Peter, chapter 3 and verse 15 where it says, "... Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." The Greek word for reason is apologia, which simply means we need to have a prepared answer (argument) for our faith. Are you prepared? It is the will of God that you be prepared! If we are, God is honored and we are faithful witnesses.
