January 18, 2010 Training Materials

Greetings to you on this somewhat mild Monday morning in Grand Blanc. I hope that Last week was a good week for you.

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to take the opportunity to thank Sue Warner and The King's Kids for their special music offering this past Sunday. Good job kids!

In case you are wondering, this next Sunday we will have an insert in the bulletin concerning the earthquake in Haiti and a way for you to help if you so choose. I recommend that you use non-governmental agencies (such as ours) to help the people on the ground. We need to work through agencies that have a track record and can actually get things done. Please do what you feel led to do and God will bless it.

Here is a reminder of some things coming up:
  • 1-21-10... Men's morning fellowship
  • 1-23-10... Kids Fascar Event
  • 1-28-10 Church business meeting
  • 2-12 through 14-2010... elementary winter camp
  • March 10-16... Church Missions Conference

SPECIAL NOTE: I have two of the four groups booked who will be part of our outreach Summer Concert Series. On April 25, we will kick off the series with REJOICE, a ladies ensemble from Port Huron, MI. They were here last year and I wanted them to come back. We also have HEAVEN'S CALL from Palo Heights, IL. They will be with us on August 29. They are a mixed gospel group. Make plans now to attend and invite some guests to join you. This is a great opportunity to practice your personal outreach. All concerts at at 4 pm.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In First Peter chapter five ad verse five the scriptures teach that everyone (believers) should clothe themselves with humility toward each other. This is part of the love concept throughout the entire NT. We need to consider others rather than ourselves.

January 11, 2010

Greetings to you all on this cold, snowy, generally wintry day!

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to say a special thanks to the choir for the great choir number Sunday morning... a mighty AMEN!

Thank you to everyone who was involved in the Church workday. There was much to do in taking down the Christmas decorations and getting things reset. THANK YOU!

Today I will be on ASK THE PASTOR TV program at 2 pm. Pray that all will go well (including driving there... snow you know).

Today I am introducing a new category to the site called: ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING. It is for those of you who want to go deeper in your understanding. Try it and see what you think! I think you will find it challenging.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING FEATURED ARTICLE: Please click on this LINK in order to read and download the article: "Talk About Money...".

BONUS THEOLOGY ARTICLE: Please click on this LINK in order to read and download the article: "What Is Apologetics?". Helpful article by Norman Geisler.

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: In First Peter 5 verse 5 we find it said that the younger Christians (in context: young men) are to be subject to the elders. This seems to be a very common sense item from the Holy Spirit. All of the young Christians (young men in context) can learn much from those who have been Christians for a long time. It is a matter of respect, knowledge and order.

NEW... ADVANCED DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING: If you are ready, click on this LINK in order to read: "THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS". If it is too much... cut yourself some slack. At least check it out.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "Years ago we discovered the exact point, the dead center of middle age. It occurs when you are too young to take up golf and too old to rush up to the net." Franklin P. Adams, Nods and Becks, 1944.

January 4, 2010.... Training Materials

Happy New Year!!! Welcome to the last year of the first decade of the 21st century. 2011 begins the second decade of the 21st century (in spite of what you hear on TV all the time).

It is my hope and prayer that this new year will be a better one for our churches and for you personally! Let us push forward for the cause of Christ.

PERSONAL NOTE: I want to look back for a moment to 2009 and mention a couple of things:
  • Praise God for His blessings during a difficult year for us and the nation.
  • Thanks goes out to all of our church leaders for their hard work and service
  • A special thanks to our musicians who had to step up to the challenge
  • A special thanks to our youth leaders who had to step up to the challenge

Looking ahead is always a little more difficult but let me try:

  • Pray for someone to fill our music opening and possibly our youth opening.
  • Be in prayer for our theme for 2010: "Each One, Bring One!"
  • Pray for the March Missions Conference
  • Remember your Pastor
  • Remember your Leaders
  • Ask the Lord to increase our outreach and impact
  • Pray now for the big events: Missions Conf., Easter, any summer concerts, etc.
  • Pray for the nation and its leaders
  • Pray for revival among God's people

LEADERSHIP TRAINING FEATURED ARTICLE: Please click on this LINK in order to read and download the article : "Stewardship for Small Churches".

BONUS BOOK RECOMMENDATION: I have found the book, THE OUTLINE BIBLE by Harold Willmington to be a very helpful tool as a teacher. It is described as, "...a tool for making the content of the Bible easy...". I know from experience that it can be an asset to any believer's library.

BONUS THEOLOGY ARTICLE: Please click on this LINK in order to read and download today's featured article: "Can a True Christian Backslide?"

YOU CAN KNOW THE WILL OF GOD: First Peter, chapter 5 and verses 1-2 is given as instruction to the ministers and it says that it is God's will that the "elders" (read pastors or ministers) are to tend to the flock. That statement has a broad range of application.

LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "Ideas won't keep: something must be done about them." Alfred North Whitehead

I pray that you will have a great week of service to your Lord.
