Greetings to you all on this cool last of August day. It is hard to believe that summer has gone by so fast. I know that all of the children are excited about heading back to school (well, maybe not all of them).I met with the Word of Life leaders the other day and received their schedules for the coming school year. WOW!!! It looks like an exciting year.
PERSONAL NOTE: Our Sunday service went well, but we were missing a musician on the platform. Rick Cunningham has resigned, as of August 24, 2009. I am saddened by this but I also know that God will provide. We ask for every one's help as we regroup in the days ahead. We will miss his music, but the Church must pick up the slack and move forward.
A special thanks to Dee Wilson for singing during the worship service. Great song... great job...nice ministry. Thanks, Dee.
I have a reminder to all of you concerning Sunday, September 13th, 2009. On this day Greg Kelly from World Mission will be with us for two reasons. He will tell us about World Mission and specifically the ABRAHAM PROJECT and our participation with two people groups by offering THE TREASURE so that they can hear the Word of God in their own language. You will not want to miss this Sunday. We will make a special presentation to Greg at this time.

August 10... Training Materials
Greetings to you all on this sunny and muggy Monday morning.
PERSONAL NOTE: I wanted to take this time to mention yesterdays' worship service. First, let me thank my wife, Jan for the beautiful song that she shared with us. Great job, Jan! Next, allow me to thank all of the ladies who participated in the impromptu choral group during the service. I loved it!... and so did most everyone else. Thanks ladies... a job well done.
Here are a couple of web locations that you may want to check out:
www.act111.org ... this is a site where you can go to receive four training sessions on evangelism. It's all about evangelism. Be sure to check it out. I will add this link to our Bonus Training Links to the right.
www.biblicalparenting.org ... This site is a treasure trove of things to help parents train their children from a biblical point of view. They have books and CDs that can be purchased that will give you the tools to assist in child rearing... good prices... actual HOW TO stuff! August 3... Training Materials
Greetings to you all on this cool August Monday morning. It's hard to believe that summer has gone by so fast. I heard talk on the radio of beginning the countdown to Christmas. Wait a minute! Not so fast!
PERSONAL NOTE: I thought that the Sunday service yesterday was a great time of worship and celebration. I want to thank all of our musicians and technical people for your contributions. When we all do our part, everything goes much better. Thanks guys for your help during communion. I appreciate all that you do.
Some things to keep in mind: Remember the youth as they go to Michigan Adventure. Pray for good weather, good fellowship and traveling mercies. Also remember two big things on the August schedule... Aug. 23 summer concert with REJOICE right here at FBC at 4 PM. Start now deciding who you will invite... Aug. 30 is Rally Day here at First Baptist Church right after the Sunday School hour. We will have a potluck lunch. Bring a dish to pass.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING FEATURED ARTICLE: Please click on this LINK in order to download: "How do the unchurched view us?"
BONUS THEOLOGY ARTICLE: Please click this LINK in order to view and download the article: "What the Bible Says about Itself."
YOU CAN KNOW GOD'S WILL: In I Peter 2: 18, the Scripture text records God's will as slaves submit to your masters. The practical application to us today would be to place ourselves under the direction and authority of our leaders (it was especially given for the workplace). This is the will of God for you.
BOOK RECOMMENDATION: Please take the opportunity to look at the book, "Major Bible Themes"... the revised edition by Lewis Sperry Chaffer and John Walvoord. It was designed as a classroom text and provides major themes of the Bible laid out in a manner that makes it a great teaching tool. Each chapter concludes with a section of questions. Teachers... get one for yourself. It is a fine tool. It is a Zondervan book.
LEADERSHIP QUOTE: "...be careful to obey all the law my servant gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go." The Lord... Joshua 1: 7

I pray that you will have a great week of service for the Lord. Always remember to keep your Church leaders in prayer as we seek to minister to God's people.
