January 26 Weekly Training Materials

Good day to all of you on this crisp Monday, January 26, 2009. I trust that this will be a great week for you.

PERSONAL NOTE: I wanted to let you know that I felt yesterday's service was very powerful. I could see the Lord working in our midst. The Word of God is quick and powerful!

Let me invite you to our Wednesday Bible study on the 28th. We will be studying Romans chapter 3. It is entitled "Paul's Theology". I believe that this study will benefit you. Next Sunday my message from Galatians will be, "Blessed or Cursed" from 3: 6-14.

I think that some of you are aware that my appearances on "ASK THE PASTOR" have been juggled around lately. Whenever I announce I am on it, they change the schedule... so I am supposed to be on February 6 at 2 PM., channel 49 (channel 10 on cable). I look forward to the program.

Please start now inviting people to attend our Sunday 4 PM. concert on February 8 with the ROYALHEIRS. This quartet is from our area and they do a great job of sharing the message in song. There is no ticket charge for this but a love offering will be taken for them to help defray their cost in the ministry.

MONTHLY AUDIO: Please check the January 5th blog if you have not already downloaded the audio lesson.

Please take the time to check out the new links that I have added to the right in the "Bonus Training Links" section. The new ones are the top five in the list. I know that you will find them challenging and helpful... and just so that you know, I do not necessarily agree with everything that is placed on those web sites (disclaimer). I just think that we should have access to tools and then use discernment as to how we use them.

Closing comment from General George S. Patton, Jr.: "A good solution applied with vigor now is better than a perfect solution applied ten minutes later."

January 5... First Training Blog!

Greetings on this beginning of a new year!

PERSONAL NOTE: I feel we got off to a great start to the new year this last Sunday. It is my desire that we all strive to focus upon God and His work. Here are some things coming up: Jan. 11th, I will be preaching from our studies in Galatians. Wed., 7th, I will be in Acts 26. On Jan. 23rd, I will be on "Ask the Pastor" on WAQP, channel 49 in Saginaw at 2 PM. Don't forget the Church workday on Saturday the 10th.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING FEATURED ARTICLE: Click on this LINK to go to our featured weekly article entitled: "How to be your Pastor's friend."

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Please click on this LINK to view a question of the week for you to think about.

TODAY'S DEVOTION: Click on this LINK . You may find this helpful.

BONUS SECTION: In this bonus section from week to week I will offer several ideas or selections for you to consider. This week I would suggest that if you are a teacher or a leader, it would be wise to get a good study Bible. Some good choices are: NIV Study Bible; MacArthur Study Bible; ESV Study Bible; Ryrie Study Bible. You will find it handy from a teaching/study point of view. I will mention the NET Bible also. It offers some tools that require a little more advanced study, but very worthwhile. One extra note: I do not recommend the NLT Study Bible as a main study text. The reason is that it is a paraphrase.

Make sure that you use what you can and be sure to check out the other sites to your right. Peruse at your leisure.

Have a great week as we serve together, Pastor Foltz
